Changchun is the capital city of Jilin province and a regional center of economy, culture, education and transportation. 
Founded during the Qing Dynasty, developed as a major northern industrial base, the city is also known, quite pleasantly, as the "Spring City beyond the Great Wall".
Changchun has the largest automotive industry in China. China's first car plant was set up here in the 1950s, starting with a 95-horse power Jiefang truck and the famous Red-flag limousines.
Changchun also produces railway locomotives, train coaches, rolling stock and equipments.
Scenic tourist spots of the city include South Lake, Jingyue Pool, Xinlicheng Reservoir, the Zoological and Botanical Garden, Changchun Film Studio, the Puppet Emperor's Palace & Exhibition Hall, the Film Theme-city.
