The Journal of Hunan Agricultural University (natural science) has become one of the key journals of agriculture circles.

The International College was set up as the 16th College of HAU (Hunan Agricultural University) in 2003 for undertaking all joint educational programs of HAU in cooperation with overseas-partnered universities. This is a strategic approach of the University to meet the challenge of globalization in education. Students undertake two stages of study on two different campuses: the 1st stage, students will study at the HAU campus and the 2nd stage, studying at a university campus in the UK, Australia, Canada, USA, or New Zealand. Students successfully graduating from these programs are expected to be granted certificates from both HAU and the overseas university. The goal of the International College is to assist HAU students in developing a global view; various skills recognized worldwide; fluency in the international language (English); and competency in working in a multicultural environment.

Education Facilities

Both the classrooms and administration office are set up on the main campus of HAU. The classrooms are located in Teaching Building 6, which is surrounded by beautiful grasslands, gardens and pools. The classrooms are equipped with computer and multimedia instruments.

Student Recruitment

Students are basically recruited through the State plan. All students are graduates with 6-year high school and have passed the National University Entrance Exam at two levels: Bachelor candidate qualifications and Diploma candidate qualifications. Only in special cases, will students be recruited through approaches other than from the State plan. Students recruited through the State plan can be granted with degrees from both HAU and the overseas-partnered university if they meet the graduation qualifications of both universities. If students recruited through the State plan are qualified academically but cannot meet the visa requirements for studying at the overseas-partnered university, they will continue their study at HAU to complete their courses for a degree offered by the HAU.

Teaching Resources

Intensive English and IELTS training are undertaken by teachers from English speaking countries, e.g. Canada, Australia, UK and USA during their study period at HAU. For instance, students enrolled during 2003 were taught by Lily Visser from the University of Calgary and Matthew McCann from the University of Alberta, Canada.
