China's elementary education has very good reputation in the world.
Tianjin Wanbo Boarding School was founded in May, 2001, ratified by Tianjin Municipal Education Committee. The school is located on the 11th Avenue in Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area (TEDA) and occupies an area of about 12 hectares. It is the largest full-time boarding school in Tianjin, founded by the investment contributed from other cities and provinces, with a total investment of RMB 160M. The school campus has a total floor space of 90,000 m2 and is logically arranged with independent departments for teaching, residential support, competitive and recreational sport and full administrative facilities. In addition to the teaching buildings, student’s dormitories, teacher’s apartments, international dormitory and dining hall, there are a further four special purpose buildings as well; an arts centre, a planetarium, a gymnasium and a library. There are also six special purpose rooms, including laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and languages, computer rooms and an e-Reading room. The sports facilities include a 400-meter eight lane plastic track, a football field, a basketball court, a volleyball court, a tennis court and table tennis courts. The school is equipped with its own broadcast TV system that supports five channels, a public broadcast network, an ADSL network, a multimedia teaching network and a digital office system. Moreover, the school is also equipped with ideal living facilities, including electricity, water and heating, plus a laundry service on the campus. The working regime is based on the calendar month with a five-day holiday period at the end of each month. Students are transported free to and from the school in the school’s busses. Although the school has only been operating for nearly three years, it has some remarkable achievements in it’s portfolio; over one thousand students have made tremendous improvements in their overall studies, in personal behaviour, self management and have developed a capacity to adjust themselves to a new environment. A number of students have also won prizes in national competitions in various subjects including composition and handwriting. We have also some talented teachers who have made remarkable accomplishments in nation-wide teaching research and earned some very laudable comments. These achievements have been reported in both the local and national media; i.e. Tianjin Daily, The Evening News, China Education Daily as well as the local Tianjin Cable TV Station. |

Tianjin Wanbo Boarding School has created a school that has both impeccable taste and continues to maintain persistently high standards. It achieves this by skilful use of the extraordinary Chinese cultural traditions infused with a rich tang of modern innovative teaching. The school adheres to the management approach that man should be considered at the centre of work. In educating the students, we focus our thoughts on infusing them with the idea of establishing ambition, cultivating good virtue, standardising their behaviour and endeavouring to help them become a true person. They in turn, will then become both qualified and equipped to achieve success. To achieve this we have created a beautiful and refined school campus, an environment where the staff can operate at peak efficiency creating a sincere and friendly atmosphere for both students and colleagues alike. It is a harmonious, delightful setting where fair play and a warm family ambience prevail. It is where every student can learn to be a true person, to seek knowledge wisely, to learn how to live, to appreciate beauty and how to become creative. These attributes lay the foundations for each and every student to become both academically qualified and socially equipped for the demands of the 21st century. The school has four principal goals, they are to become; the “Number One” school in Tianjin, theleading school in Hebei, at the forefront of education in China and well known throughout the World. We believe that these goals will ensure that our aims of education for our students can be met. Our aims are that every student should; learn to be themselves, learn how to study, learn how to live, learn to be aesthetic, receive higher education and move on successfully in the World. It is also our belief that a first-rate school can only be established if it has teachers of the highest quality. Our task is then to organise the teaching staff into a cohesive team, to shape their spirits and further enhance their teaching capabilities with the aim of cultivating teachers of notoriety. Wanbo warmly invites experts and engages well-known teachers from both near and afar, establishing a highly qualified, logically structured, balanced teaching staff of outstanding calibre. We carefully adhere to two key principles of "cultivating the young” and “fostering good virtues", Wanbo’s approach strengthens the education of civilised habits, public awareness, a healthy mental attitude and an appreciation of the ethics of common sense. It achieves this by embracing the “five loves”, that of love; the motherland, the people, labour, science and socialism. The school motto encapsulates these succinctly; "develop moral character, work wholeheartedly, have team spirit and venture the new". These guide the students in their daily lives. To meet the demands of the modern World we have embarked upon a process of academic exchange tours. These tours foster mutual co-operation with foreign schools strengthening the cultural ties that bind humanity throughout the World. In this way we have broadened the knowledge and understanding of both our students and accompanying staff immeasurably. We believe that Wanbo Boarding School is in the forefront of modern education in this respect and in embarking upon these exchanges it is giving the students the opportunity to acquaint themselves with different values, beliefs and cultures. Currently, the school enjoys a mutual, positive, collaborative relationship with several organisations across the globe including establishments in U.S.A., Britain, Canada and Australia. This has enabled a bridge to be created for the students who may seek to study abroad, giving them more choices in pursuing tertiary education. In essence, the possibilities for the students of Wanbo to receive higher education are excellent. |
