An International School
The International School (BZIS) was founded with a total investment of RMB1.2 billion yuan (about 144 million U.S. dollars) in Beijing in 2002. BZIS was the first operation of an international school by a Chinese company here. This year, BZIS will move to a new location in Chaoyang District of Beijing, which occupies approximately 5 hectares with the building comprising 24,000 square meters all designed by a western architecture firm. The school already has faculty members from English-speaking counties all over the world, each a specialist with many years experience in their subject before coming to China.
Mission Statement
To satisfy the demand for talented people by 21st century's social and economic development, our school introduces the idea of international education along side a completely new educational curriculum. Our concept is that of a new educational organization based on the potential of the student, following the guide of the teacher. Using English as the language of instruction, students are taught to the fullest extent in accordance to their aptitude to bring to bear the student's potential so that our school can prepare the student to become an international talent. "Adapt for today, predict tomorrow and create the future."
Curriculum
In every grade at BZIS, the school emphasizes teaching, not simply presenting information. We strive to capitalize on each child's unique way of learning and thinking. While our students follow a directed course of study, teachers constantly challenge each individual to exceed the assigned work by exploring and thinking independently. Thus the educational experience stretches the intellect, creating adventuresome learners. In preparing students for the 21st century, BZIS strives for the highest standards in mathematics, science and technology. The school has introduced a multi-year innovative, hands-on math, science and technology program based on the latest research on how students learn best.
